Made from 100% Albarino, this is a refreshing white with taut, complex layers of tropical fruits, citrus and melon. The wine quickly opens up, offering a rich, ripe palate edged with citrus and minerals on the lingering finish. It is an ideal cocktail wine and a perfect partner for seafood of all sorts.
Wine Advocate 88 points - The one-million liter cuvee 2013 Albarino is fermented in stainless steel with 10% of the wine put through malo. It’s a fresh and floral white, with clean aromas of freshly cut grass and a medium-bodied palate with good acidity. Not terribly exciting, but really easy to drink and identifiable as Albarino. Founded in 1988, Adega Condes de Albarei is a cooperative of grower/owners who own 740 acres planted to Albarino in the O Salnes Valley, in the heart of Spain’s Rias Baixas region. Equipped with the most advanced technology available, the winery has earned a reputation as one of the highest quality producers in the region. The flagship cuvee of the house, Condes de Albarei Albarino, was the first white wine from Spain to earn a gold medal at Vinexpo and was awarded a second one in 1998. Rias Baixas is one of the coolest growing regions in Spain and very wet, averaging 50 inches of rainfall per year. In order to maximize exposure to the sun and drying breezes, the grapes are grown using the pergola method which trellises the vines flat and parallel to the ground at a height of 5 to 6 feet. The estate-grown grapes for Condes de Albarei are sorted and de-stemmed before pressing. The juice is fermented sur lie for 10 days at cool temperaturesand then fined, stabilized and filtered before bottling.
